Pixar has released the first full trailer for Toy Story 5, reuniting beloved characters Woody and Buzz Lightyear as they face their most modern nemesis yet — a tablet device called Lilypad that threatens to make physical toys obsolete.

The trailer, which has already garnered over 100 million views across platforms, shows Bonnie’s toy collection grappling with the reality that children are increasingly drawn to screens rather than physical playthings.

“We wanted to tell a story about what it means to be needed in a world that’s changing faster than you can keep up,” said director Pete Docter.

Tom Hanks and Tim Allen return to voice Woody and Buzz respectively, with new cast members including Awkwafina as Lilypad and Oscar Isaac as a vintage toy who remembers “the golden age” of playtime.

Toy Story 5 is scheduled for release in June 2026, twenty years after the original film first introduced audiences to the secret world of toys. Early reactions to the trailer have been overwhelmingly positive, with fans praising Pixar for tackling a contemporary theme.
